URIAH DUFFY
Uriah Duffy is a freelance funk & RnB bassist who has joined the legendary rock group Whitesnake. With them, Uriah is up for three Classic Rock awards this year: Best Album, Best Band & Best Concert Event of the year.
If Larry Graham, Victor Wooten and Bootsy Collins were in a car wreck and somehow, by the magic of science, all 3 were put back together into one bass player, his name might just be, Uriah Duffy.
Incorporating various styles from all corners of the musical universe, Uriah blends soulful melody, crazy funk and intense chunk into one perfect package.
Whether he's playing sold-out stadiums across the globe with Rock Gods, Whitesnake, melting faces with his crazy bass technique via his own band, Flametal, makin' bootys shake and heads nod as the driving slap behind Bay Area Legend, Lyrics Born or just sitting in on a studio session with Alicia Keys or The Coup, Uriah Duffy does it all, and does it well.
Luke Thomas Trio is a funky blend of jazz, rock, and blues fusion, characterized by powerful rump-shaking grooves, infectious feel-good vibes, and nasty improvisational explorations. Influenced by the solid pocket stylings of guitar masters like John Scofield, The Meters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Oz Noy, Nels Cline, Jimi Hendrix, and Wes Montgomery, the Luke Thomas Trio blends the old with the new, from Miles and Monk to modern acid-jazz explorations.
As a band-leader and sideman, Luke has had the pleasure of sharing the stage and supporting acts like Smashmouth, the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, afro-funk favorites Aphrodesia and Albino!, and classic artists Rare Earth and Bo Diddley. Luke moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2005, where he joined singer/songwriter Phoenix in forming AfterBuffalo, which has toured all over the Western US and is a favorite at festivals and charity events. Luke also performs with Midwest Jazz-punks the Jazz Orgy, and co-founded the Angry Philosophers, a mutant-jazz-rock collective that performed regularly at some of the San Francisco Bay Area's famous landmark live music clubs, including Beckett's Pub and the Starry Plough.
